Living with it

Caring for a ring you wear every day

An engagement ring isn't a museum piece. It's a tool that lives on your finger. Here's how to keep it looking the way it did the day you put it on.

Cleaning at home

Once a week, soak the ring for ten minutes in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then brush gently with a soft toothbrush — paying attention to the underside of the stone, where lotion and oils collect. Rinse and pat dry with a soft cloth. Skip ultrasonics for pavé or vintage milgrain settings.

When to take it off

The diamond is the hardest natural material on Earth, but the setting is gold and gold is soft. Take the ring off for: weight training, rock climbing, gardening, applying sunscreen, and swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater.

Lifetime service, included

We resize, retip prongs, repolish the band, and rhodium-plate white gold for the life of the ring — at no charge, no questions. Mail it in with the prepaid label we send every customer.

The lifetime upgrade

If you ever want a larger center stone, you can trade the original back to us at full purchase price toward a Rion stone of at least twice the value. The setting itself can stay or change with you.
